Description
In this 2nd edition of “The Foxy Armadillos”, it wasn’t so long ago that the farmers had driven away the pesky fox that inhabited that hill. When the fox comes back, the armadillos fight for their home, one clever trick at a time. The family of armadillos goes about doing what armadillos do until one day, they make a startling discovery: one roll down the hill and—bang! —instant feeding time. This changes everything for the whole family! The farmers notice the digging has stopped, and the armadillos are eating the bugs that were eating their crops. This is now a group they’re happy to have around! When the fox comes looking to move back in, the armadillo clan proves that the best way to win… is to roll with it.

“The Foxy Armadillos” will be a joy to any pre-schooler and every parent who enjoys reading to their child. The story, use of rhyme and attractive artwork will capture the interest of the child and the message told through the story should help children understand the importance of others. The Foxy Armadillos: A message every adult should appreciate.

Marvelous read and superb illustrations!
Clever, adventurous and full of inspiring lessons about new applications for existing “inventions”, this book should resonate with children everywhere. Amazingly, V. R. Duin takes a hardy troop of armadillos and renders them both lovable and cuddly.
Lois June Wickstrom –
In this story, V R Duin uses rhymes and a sense of fun to tell a tale of animals fighting over territory and finding their niches. The armadillos are useful to the farmer because they eat bugs. The fox is not useful, so the farmer shoos it away. But, like any villain worth his pages in a story, the fox comes back.
The armadillos learn to roll, and then they learn to bowl. Thus, in this story, a skill developed for fun becomes useful in defense. I think that’s a positive idea to teach children.
I don’t know if 3-banded armadillos (the only kind that can roll into balls) have ever used their bodies like bowling balls to knock over foxes like bowling pins. But an armadillo weighs about 8 pounds and a fox weighs about 10 pounds, so it is possible.

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR USING BOOK FOR BULLYING:
I am a GUIDANCE COUNSELOR and am using this book to teach my students, how to deal with BULLYING and PROBLEM SOLVING. Also, I am including some other subjects such as COOPERATION and team work for the benefit of our environment which is part of being a good citizen and conservation of our planet. (I. am using this book with a great activity book from the Forestry Department but it is not needed.)
I also always include some background information because I like my students to learn about many things, such as mammals, the type of environment armadillos live in and their UNIQUE way of self-defense (so cute curling into a ball), geography where they are commonly found.
I also use this book just like I did with V. R. Duins book The Flight of Little Ray (compared them to sharks because they are made of cartilage and where we have cartilage, but they have differences in personality and defense (like we are all different but also the same) where they are commonly found in warmer water and where and how the role the equator affects the world’s climate.) I also introducing any vocabulary they might not know or completely understand). I believe any teacher or parent could use this book for many subjects, Language Arts, Science, Geography and Character Traits.
I use this book to teach my students many things in an entertaining way. I believe it is a wonderful teaching tool for Teachers or Parents to teach and talk about many subjects. All of V. R,DUIN’S (Goopy Ghost series, too)books make my career as a Guidance Counselor (Teaching Character Traits and other subjects) a lot more fun and enhances my teaching lessons. I believe any Teacher or Parent will find this book very educational. Besides educating my students, they also love, love the stories and illustrations. When I tell my students their Learning Goal and mention we will be using one of V.R. Duin’s book they are always excited and happy. Honestly. I believe if you buy this book you will see everything I just said is accurate !!!
Thank-you
V. R. Duin for making my job more fun and easy for me and my students.

This is an excellently written, brilliantly illustrated children’s book that expresses in an easy to understand way how families can come together to solve a problem and through that cooperation, be a blessing to others in overcoming a shared adversary. I love this book and highly recommend it to families and schools to teach children the importance of not discounting children’s simplistic, but often wise suggestions in facing challenges.

Gives new meaning to “Let’s Roll”! This story proves that slight changes in actions and attitudes can make huge differences in the creation of amazing inventions and unlikely heroes. It has a great appeal for special needs children. I know this to be a fact because I have a special needs child and he loves this author.

Twaddle free learning fun!
“Many great things start out as fun,
Then become used by everyone.
Be sure to keep an open mind.
Amazing things are yours to find.”
What a wonderful opportunity this colorful, playful story gives us to explore a little of the small family farm. In the whimsical tale we discover a family of armadillos have nested down on a quiet, cozy farm. Armadillos can be a nuisance because they dig so many holes and even eat plants farmers need. But they can also be beneficial since they gobble up plenty of pesty insects. Farmers struggle with balancing the two traits. Will the armadillos be allowed to stay?
Ma, Pa, Sis, Boom and Ba, our clever armadillo friends, may have just solved the problem. Read the story to find how they managed to chase away the wily fox. Snugly settled in their prickly sticky nettle patch atop a hill the farmers can’t plant, both the farmers and the armadillos are content.
This is a fun little tale. Your young ones will love the colors, and giggle with the antics of the armadillo “dolls”. And parents will love the opportunity to share some teachable moments.

The Foxy Armadillos: I really enjoyed this delightful book and how they learned to have fun and work together. The illustrations are beautiful and it is a heart-warming read, with adventures around each page! I also learned a lot about Armadillos that I didn’t know.
Sandy Smallwood –
Love the Positive Message! I found this book to be a very positive message for children of all ages. The illustrations are beautiful, while the story is fun to read.

A chance to learn from little people and animals! A brood of armadillos living in a den previously belonging to a fox on the top of a hill frolic… A grounding work, beneath the surface. What ensures for the reader is not only an opportunity to appreciate subtleties like the time a horticulturist spends maintaining proper growing conditions and how some beings stay happy while they work, but an opportunity to enjoy another very beautiful children’s book by author V. R. Duin.

Foxy ‘dillo fun for everyone: The Foxy Armadillos has great rhythmic flow, making it fun to read out loud to my three kids ages 1, 3, and 5 (who has autism). They really enjoy this book, it almost seems better the second time around as they have learned from the previous reading about Armadillos and engage even more with the story the more I read it to them. I also recommend trying other books by V. R. Duin, my kids have enjoyed them all so far and they all have the same great flow and beautifully done illustrations.

Helpful critters save the day: Delightful escapades on a farm with an animal not too well known: the armadillo! These creatures have fun in this story and also help out a farmer with a problem. Should intrigue children.
Benjamin Columbia –
Rhythmic! Rhythm and rhyme flow from the story and the characters are fun and realistic as they deal with their own unique issues of place and purpose. Teaching and building character appreciation for all kinds of people, animals and places as we all strive to make a place to live and be happy.

Two Thumbs Up: The Foxy Armadillos is not your typical children’s book. Instead, it offers priceless lifelong lessons in effectiveness, efficiency and creativity. Fun to read with incredible graphics, this book is a winner with young and old alike by introducing the concept of a win-win scenario while simultaneously encouraging a love of animals through characters named Sis, Boom and Ba. Without reservation, I give it two thumbs up.
Felix Nodarse –
My boy loved the illustrations, he loves drawing and building things. The reading is very simple and fluid even though my son is very demanding of himself and stops often out of frustration but, it kept him interested. At 7 years of age he strives for perfection so it is a process for him. This book will have your kid asking questions so, be ready.
In a very playful way, this book will show kids how important is diversity in our mesopredator population.
