This is a delightful Halloween tale, one that the children will want to have read to them over and over again. They will tingle with excitement as they learn about the goo inside the pumpkin, and how it comes to life. This is a very creative story, one that will become a Halloween tradition. To make the story complete, it ends with a moral, which is always a good teaching opportunity. If you bring this ghost into your home you will never want to have him leave.

A great children’s tale for everyone who enjoys Halloween. Very clever and creative. Who would have thought that the inside of a pumpkin could come to life, let alone be so mischievous?!!! Fun to read, this whimsical, rhyming escapade will captivate both the young and old alike. Once you read this, you will never look at pumpkin goop the same again!

I purchased this book for my four children (ages 9, 5, 3, and 1). They all love it:
9 loves reading it 5.
5 loves showing the pictures to 1.
1 loves hitting 3 with it.
3 loves snuggling up and hearing it read.
The first day I read it to them, they asked me to read it a second time. The second day, when I asked them what we should read for bedtime they all clamored for it. The third day, I couldn’t find it – turns out 3 had taken it off the shelf and was keeping it in his room. When I asked him for it, so I could read it, he told me I should get my own copy – this one is his! As for me, I really enjoy the easy lyrical nature of the text. It’s fun to read, and an instant family favorite. I’m looking forward to more.

“The Goopy Ghost of Halloween” will charm Halloween lovers both young and old alike. Goopy is not your average ghost; he’s fresh and creative.
This book can easily become a traditional “must read” story on Halloween Eve.
We normally cook the seeds from the pumpkins we carve. This year, we will just be drawing the faces on the pumpkins and leaving Goopy’s house intact!
I recommend buying several copies to give out as an extra special treat to the little ghosts that visit your home this year.

I recently bought Goopy Ghost for my seven-month-old baby for her first Halloween. Although she is too young to sit still for most books, she really took to Goopy. The illustrations are vibrant, and the story is rhythmic enough to catch her attention (and that’s hard to do with a seven-month-old!).
I also enjoyed the book, which is not always the case with some children’s stories I read that seem pointless and end abruptly. The adventures of Goopy Ghost (stealing candy, trying to put out the “fire” in his house) are entertaining and original enough for both children and adults to enjoy it.
The soft cover and texture of the book is also wonderful for my little one to bop it around without hurting herself, which she did with much delight immediately after her first reading.
Goopy will be a friend in our household for many years to come!

The Goopy Ghost is the first children’s book I have read for a while as I am 35 and it just transported me back to Halloweens spent with my family! The illustrations are just so well matched to the story and the story line is great!!! I would recommend this book to anyone who has kids, loves Halloween, and/or likes a cute book about ghosts. I am so thankful to my friend for recommending this book and I will order more books about the Goopy Ghost. I have been in a book club for years and love to read for recreation and The Goopy Ghost really perked my interest. Even my Dad read Goopy and enjoyed it. Thank you to author, V.R. Duin for a great introduction back into the genre of children’s books!!!

V. R. Duin is an excellent author of Children’s Books. The Goopy Ghost Series of books are written in a way to keep children interested as well as to help teach them important life lessons. I personally know that these books are being used in schools and being added to school libraries across the country. Besides writing excellent books, V. R. Duin donates a lot of time to children, making appearances at schools to read her books. She truly cares about the children’s education. I highly recommend these books to parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts.

This is such a fun and whimsical story to be read this time of year or any. The kids love using their imagination when we carve pumpkins to see if Goopy is coming alive for some fun in our pumpkin goop. Just as he surprises and does in “The Goopy Ghost of Halloween”. This is written really well for all to enjoy and great for young readers too.
