Transform a Classroom This Weekend—With a Paintbrush and a Great Book
Everyone knows our classrooms need more support. But what if you and your child could completely change the reading experience for a local classroom this weekend?
At Little Ray Children’s Books, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we believe curiosity knows no boundaries. We are on a mission to bring exciting adventures, vital life lessons, and beautiful escapes into nature directly to children everywhere.
When kids and parents physically handcraft the tools for their own classrooms, they become deeply invested in the magic of reading. That’s why we created Coins for Curiosity—and you can bring it to your school in 5 easy steps.
How to Sponsor a Classroom with Coins for Curiosity
- 1. Gather Your Crew
Gather your friends, parents, and teachers to turn this into a fun, hands-on community service project. It’s perfect for PTAs, after-school programs, sports teams, or scout troops. - 2. Prep Your Supplies
Grab a few low-cost craft essentials: 2-inch wooden craft rounds, Mod Podge, child-safe acrylic paint, a clear gloss sealant, and your favorite Little Ray book(s). - 3. Download the Magic
Print out our Free Character Overlay Sheet. It features perfectly sized, 2-inch circles of Little Ray and Sand Dollar to bring your coins to life. - 4. Paint and Create
Paint your wooden rounds in coastal hues—sea blue, coral pink, driftwood gray, and beach sand. Once dry, glue Little Ray to the front and the Sand Dollar to the back, then add a quick coat of gloss sealant for a beautiful, smooth finish. - 5. Reward Young Readers!
Bring your finished coins and books to the classroom! Use the coins as high-engagement reading tokens, rewards for milestones, or interactive tools to turn reading into a dynamic, physical adventure.
